They did not return home

According to Union of People’s Memory, the search squad “Bridgehead” traveled to the village of Dolina (Slavyansk district of Donetsk region) n November 10, 2018, to search for unmarked graves from WWII. The aim was to find and conduct exhumation of Soviet and German soldiers.

The group found 2 burials: In one, the remains of seven fighters, in the other a lone fighter.

The remains of those found are likely to belong to soldiers of the Red Army, as evidenced by helmets, bowlers, enameled mug, fragments of ammunition, boots, as well as cartridges and cartridges for the Mosin rifle lying nearby.
