Victory Day
Our search squad has a really meaningful tradition of going searching on May 9 (Victory Day) every year. We consider it an honorable way to truly thank those who fell so long ago. This May, the heavy spring rain made it difficult to dig, as the hole continuously fills with mud and water. But this never really matters: the fallen soldiers needed to be found and buried with proper honors, and we are happy to find them rain or shine. On that Victory Day, we found a warrior of the Red Army who was shot by the enemy. We also found many rounds in his pouches, as well as several grenades surrounding him.

It’s hard to dig in this weather. A lot of dirt, water constantly fills the pit. Photo from the special search organization “Vertical” archive.
Surprisingly, he had two medallions with him, but both turned out to be empty …

Remains of the pen were found among his personal belongings. Photo from the special search organization “Vertical” archive.

Unfortunately, we could not find any source of identification on his body. We want to grant eternal memory to this man for helping to stop the enemy.
Thanks to the members of Vertical search team for their work in finding dead and missing soldiers.
